The Nissan Intelligent Key
The Nissan Intelligent Key allows you to lock or unlock your vehicle doors, and even start it up without having to insert the actual key. The key fob comes with a button to control the automatic-down function of your power windows in the event that you have windows.
The Intelligent Key has a built-in antenna that sends a signal to the vehicle every time you push one of the buttons on the key fob. When the Intelligent Key is close to your Nissan and the Vehicle System will authenticate by sending a request for nearby Key IDs. If the key is found within a certain distance of your Nissan, it will activate one or more of the systems (door locks, trunk release, engine start, etc).
To stop unauthorised access to your car to prevent unauthorized access to your car, the Intelligent Key system can only authenticate and operate using keys that were originally registered by an authorized Nissan dealer. The Vehicle System will display a message if a brand new Intelligent Key has been used. This will stop the vehicle from starting (DTC B2190). This is a fail-safe safeguard that blocks any new key from being able to communicate with the Intelligent Key Module until it is modified by an Nissan dealer.
